West Ham United are now hopeful of landing their former loanee and current free agent Jesse Lingard this summer.

Journalist for the Daily Express, Ryan Taylor, has been speaking about the future of the 29-year-old on his YouTube channel amid reports linking the Hammers with Arnaut Danjuma.

The Hammers have not exactly made an electric start to the summer window with just the one new face through the door and then the permanent addition of Alphonse Areola after his initial loan spell (via Transfermarkt).

But it has been reported David Moyes’ side have submitted a proposal to Lingard’s camp in the hope of persuading him to return to the London Stadium after his impressive loan spell in the 2020/21 campaign.

With Taylor believing Moyes has opted to pursue a deal for Lingard over Danjuma, the journalist provided an insight on the Hammers’ confidence in landing the 29-year-old:

(18:00) “It’s true that Moyes prefers a move for Jesse Lingard, who the club are now confident of signing, despite interest from Everton and Tottenham.

“They’ve made a proposal to his representatives, and they’re hopeful that Lingard will seal that permanent switch to the London Stadium where he thrived on loan in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

It has now been over one year since Lingard has played consistent football when he was with the Hammers after another frustrating campaign at Old Trafford.

If West Ham could bring Lingard back and he could hit the same levels he did during his loan spell then it certainly would seem a move which could make a lot of sense.

However, it seems the midfielder is seriously considering all his options with reports suggesting he is travelling to America to discuss his offers from MLS sides.
