Journalist Derek Clark has advised Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie to leave Ibrox this summer.
The Rangers Review writer was speaking on the site’s YouTube channel ahead of the upcoming season and alongside Joshua Barrie, the duo discussed some of the fat that may need trimming at the Gers.
With veteran shot-stopper Allan McGregor deciding to extend his stay in Glasgow it looks like he will be Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s number one while Jon McLaughlin is likely to continue as deputy or maybe even assume responsibility between the sticks.
That leaves McCrorie’s route to goal well and truly blocked and while the pair admitted that the Scotsman is only the same age now that McGregor was when became the club’s no.1 (24), Clark feels now is the right time for him to pursue an alternative option.
“I’m looking at it through his eyes, and if I’m third-choice again this season, I’d be looking to move out, even if it’s on loan for a season to get game time.
“I think for the good of his career, it does Robbie McCrorie no good to just sit in the stands every week.”

After loan spells at Berwick, Greenock Morton, Queen of the South and Livingston (Transfermarkt), McCrorie was kept at the Light Blues last season.
After making two appearances in the space of four days back in August he failed to play a single minute thereafter.
That was despite keeping clean sheets in a Europa League qualifier against Alashkert and in an Old Firm win over Celtic.
Former Gers goalie Cammy Bell has previously urged McCrorie to quit the club he has been at since he was a teenager and having established himself as a international goalkeeper at underage it is perhaps time he forged his own path at club level too.
