There has been constant talk over the last few months about the future of Bowen at West Ham, which should come as no surprise considering how superbly he performed across all competitions last season, registering 30 goal involvements.
Clubs such as Liverpool are said to be admirers of Bowen, although the signing of Darwin Nunez may rule them out of a summer move, although London duo Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be looking at the winger.
However, according to Jones, Bowen is set to receive a huge pay rise from West Ham which they hope will convince him to stay, as he explained.
He said: “Checking out the Bowen situation and the Arsenal rumour, there wasn’t any particular concern about it, and the reason I don’t think there will be with Chelsea necessarily is because Bowen knows he’s about to be handed a very handsome pay rise; he knows that he’s got a contract offer that’s going to come at the end of the season that’s a big one.
Does Bowen deserve a new contract?
“West Ham have him is a huge player in that setup, so that’s the plan for them and they just hope that they can silence some of the noise from outside.”
TIF Thoughts on Bowen’s situation…
It appears that West Ham are looking to progress their squad this summer and try to get back into the Europa League by bringing in Nayef Aguerd and closing in on Gialnuca Scamacca, instead of losing players who’ve been tipped to leave such as Bowen and Declan Rice.
If Bowen is aware of this bumper new deal coming his way and sees the Hammers actively trying to better their squad, there is no reason for him to seek pastures new anytime soon as he appears settled and is a regular under David Moyes – something that couldn’t be guaranteed at a new club.
