Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that there could be a potential swap deal on the cards for Tottenham Hotspur with Pau Torres and Giovani Lo Celso.
There have been reports stating that Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Torres from Villarreal this summer, although they have recently signed Clement Lenglet on loan for the 2022/23 Premier League season from Barcelona.
Torres was a constant in the Villarreal side last season, as he made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish side, where he scored an impressive six goals and chipped in with one assist from centre-back.
With Lo Celso spending last season on loan with Villarreal, O’Rourke claimed to This Is Futbol that he could be used as part of a swap deal with Torres this summer, as the Spaniard is ‘high on the radar’ for Spurs.
He said: “Still the prospect that there’s a potential swap deal on the cards here with Lo Celso going in part exchange for Pau Torres after a successful season on loan at Villareal last season as well. So yeah, I still think he’s pretty high on the radar for Tottenham, Pau Torres.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…
Although Spurs have made five signings this summer, none of them have been permanent additions at centre-back, and even though they have brought in Lenglet, O’Rourke has said that they are still interested in Torres, and Lo Celso could be used to bring the price that they would have to pay for the 25-year-old down.
Spurs qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth last season and Torres featured 12 times in the competition as Villarreal reached the semi-finals of the competition last term, so he knows what it is like to compete at the highest level, which would be key for Antonio Conte if he was to sign for the north London side.
