Tottenham Hotspur are still expected to bring in a new central defender and central midfielder in the coming weeks of this summer’s window.
This is according to Darren Lewis of The Mirror, who has been speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel to discuss all things transfer-related.
Spurs are now going into the new campaign with Antonio Conte’s six-player wishlist fully ticked off ahead of their final pre-season game at the weekend.
But Lewis clearly does not believe Spurs are done there, with a large chunk of their £150m investment still unspent despite bringing in six new faces.
He said: “I expect them to invest in a commanding central defender and an attacking central midfielder – both those two will cost a lot of money, and you will need to sell players to be able to raise that money to do that.”
TIF Thoughts on Lewis’ comments…
We still think another central defender would be a great addition to Conte’s options, with the Lilywhites already experiencing injury fears at the back in pre-season.
What do Spurs need more?

Centre-back
Meanwhile, it is now expected Joe Rodon will head off on loan to Rennes, and with reports still surrounding Japhet Tanganga‘s future, there is definitely a case Spurs may need to bring in some reinforcements.
Having completed the majority of their business early on, Spurs now sit in the favourable position of being able to watch the market and fine-tune their squad, unlike some of their rivals.
