Jacque Talbot has claimed on his YouTube channel that Newcastle United transfer target Duvan Zapata will not be leaving his current club.

Newcastle have seen themselves linked with a whole host of strikers this summer as they look to bring in adequate competition for Callum Wilson, with players such as Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin having all been tipped to join at one point.

However, those three have been ruled out due to their high price tags, but someone that would reportedly only cost them £20 million is Zapata who can boast a record of 106 goals in 257 Serie A matches, although Talbot believes that even he is someone that won’t be joining.

Talbot spoke about the likelihood of Zapata remaining with Atalanta.

Will Newcastle sign a new striker?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

(23:40) “Duvan Zapata, I think he’ll end up staying at Atalanta, he really fits their system and is quite old and I think they [tried] to charge Newcastle like €30 million last time, so I imagine he’ll remain.”

TIF Thoughts on this Zapata claim…

It was always a potentially outlandish link Zapata joining Newcastle given his age, he just turned 31 in April, whereas the Magpies have constantly been linked with younger attackers this summer, including most recently, RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

He is only 19 and his agent has posted a picture of him in Newcastle, only to then delete it swiftly after Magpies fans noticed it, but given his age and thus potential to grow with the club, he would seemingly be a better fit than someone such as Zapata, despite the latter’s impressive record in front of goal both domestically and in the Champions League.
