Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that Christian Eriksen is going to be Manchester United’s second transfer this summer.

Eriksen is reportedly set to have his medical with Manchester United this week, and if all goes well, he should be set to link up with the squad in the second half of their pre-season tour in Australia.

The Danish midfielder signed a six-month contract with Brentford in January and was impressive during his short stint with the club after he racked up five goal contributions in 11 appearances in the Premier League for the Bees.

With Eriksen reportedly having his medical with United this week, Crook claimed on TalkSport that he will be the second signing Erik ten Hag will make this summer.

“When it comes to Christian Eriksen, they are expecting that deal, Manchester United, to go through this week. His medical process will take a bit longer than the standard medical, because of the much-publicised issues that he’s had in the past, but that will be their second signing through the door.”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Ten Hag has made just one signing this summer so far, bringing in Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia for £13.5m, who is a 22-year-old that the Dutch manager will know very well from his time facing him as Ajax manager.

It might be worrying for United that they have only made one signing, but with Raphinha on the brink of completing a deal to Barcelona, this could mean that Frenkie de Jong could join Manchester United as the La Liga side are struggling financially.

Eriksen could be a good option for United, but considering his age and that his position is the same as Bruno Fernandes’, the role and amount of game time that he would be given next season is unclear, so it will be interesting to see how he is utilised by Ten Hag next season.
