ExWHUemployee has revealed that there is no reason to fear an imminent exit for West Ham United defender Craig Dawson.

The centre-back played no part in the club’s recent friendlies against Boreham Wood and Ipswich Town, which may have sparked some concerns about his transfer situation.

Potentially adding to those fears is the news that was revealed by Ex earlier this summer, which stated Dawson could potentially be seeking a move to the north of England in the current window.

However, while addressing the situation on The West Ham Way Patreon page, the Hammers insider explained that his absence was likely to do with a minor injury, with the player understood to be happy at the London Stadium for now.

Prior to Tuesday’s clashes, Ex wrote: “We can confirm that Craig Dawson is not selected in either squad today but that there is nothing to worry about. He was at the training ground yesterday and must have something minor as we have not heard of any clubs making a move for him.

“We had heard at the start of the window he was ‘considering’ moving up north for his family, yet nothing has happened and he seems happy at the club still.”

TIF Thoughts on Craig Dawson and West Ham…

The West Ham defence has already been bolstered this summer with Nayef Aguerd arriving from Rennes. And so this could open the door for a centre-back to leave, but that looks more likely to be Issa Diop, with multiple clubs said to be keen on a deal for the 25-year-old.

And so it certainly doesn’t seem as though David Moyes would have any great reason to try and offload the man who played more minutes in the Premier League than any of their central defenders last season.

Of course, Dawson could well be the one to instigate a move, but as Ex says, no clubs seem to be close to a deal, so an exit probably isn’t likely at this stage.
