Phil Hay believes that Leif Davis has left Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch impressed in pre-season.
While Leeds attempted to cope with a boatload of injuries all over the pitch last season, someone they loaned out, Davis, was sat twiddling his thumbs for large parts of last term on loan in the Championship starting just seven league games.
However, despite the disappointment of last time out it appears that Davis, who is into the final 12 months of his current contract, could be getting a new lease of life under Marsch at Elland Road, according to Hay.
While speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Davis’ future and pre-season thus far were discussed by Hay.
“If they were to do a left-back, I think it will be somebody very young, but it hasn’t really been spoken about much, and from what I’m told, Leif Davis has done really well since coming back – I think Marsch has been quite sold on him.”
Will Leeds be in another relegation battle?
Yes!
No!
TIF Thoughts on Davis’ Leeds future…
With Stuart Dallas sidelined for the foreseeable future and Junior Firpo not setting the world alight during his debut season with a 6.49 WhoScored rating, the left-back spot really does seem like it’s up for grabs and considering Davis is a lot younger than Firpo, Leeds may look to nurture and push him on.
The 22-year-old could certainly save the club some money this summer if he steps up and performs admirably well in pre-season, which could help the transfer budget when it comes to improving other areas of the pitch.
