Journalist Greg O’Keeffe has claimed on the All Together Now podcast that Frank Lampard will be fuming if Everton decided to sell Anthony Gordon.

Everton have already lost Richarlsion for £60m, despite him being their top goalscorer from last season, and reports shortly followed that they could well be set to lose another key member of the squad in the form of Gordon.

The Everton academy graduate has reportedly been of interest to Newcastle United and the Magpies appeared to lodge an ambitious £35m bid for the winger, although that was quickly dismissed.

O’Keeffe believes that stance will have to remain the same if the Everton board are to keep Lampard happy.

Is £35 million good value for Gordon?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “I do believe he’ll have a really strong season. I don’t think he actually wants to leave Everton, anyway.

“And I know Frank Lampard will be absolutely livid if Everton sold him. It would represent a massive kind of break in his belief in the way they’re able to go forward, I think. So, it’s just a no-brainer, not going to happen, and therefore the [new] contract makes sense.”

TIF Thoughts on Gordon’s future…

If Everton were to lose both Richarlison and Gordon in one transfer window, it would surely suggest that the Toffees are taking a big step back before they can even contemplate progressing the club forward.

However, for Everton to dismiss a £35m offer for a player who’s had just one decent season in the Premier League – he only managed four goals and two assists – is perhaps surprising, but the fact he is young and Lampard may wish to build his attack around Gordon could be why such a deal was rejected and talks about a new deal appeared to instantly intensify.
