Daily Star reporter Paul Brown feels that Everton may be forced into selling Yerry Mina this summer.

Last week the Toffees brought in £60m having sold their top-scorer from last season Richarlison to Tottenham but they may well have to cut ties with another first-team star.

Having arrived from Barcelona almost four years ago, Mina is now into the final year of his £120k-per-week contract at Goodison Park.

Now according to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the club are open to selling their joint-highest earner with the report claiming that the Merseyside club have placed a £13m price tag on the Colombian’s head but are willing to lower their asking price due to his precarious contract situation.

Brown has now claimed that despite Frank Lampard favouring the defender the manager’s hands may be tied and the club may look to cash in while they can.

When asked was a move from the Blues likely he told GIVEMESPORT:

“Yes, absolutely. Yerry Mina is someone who doesn’t have very long on his contract.

“He has suffered with injuries and been in and out of the side. I think he is clearly a player that Lampard would let go.

“Lampard seems to quite like Yerry Mina, but his contract situation is a problem. He’s not getting any younger and I think, from a financial point of view, it would make sense to sell him now.”

TIF Thoughts on Mina and Everton…

Should Everton sell Mina?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It is a difficult one for the Evertonians considering the impact he seemed to have at the back last season. Described as “a monster” when he is at it by former player now Liverpool Echo columnist Michael Ball, seven of the Blues’ 11 league wins came when he was in the side and they lost just four of the 13 matches he played.

Mina will be 28 in September and he has suffered with persistent injuries during his time on Merseyside with last season seeing him miss 25 matches.

That may well soften the blow for Lampard and his former agent Mario Mauri has told Italian news website L’Interista (via TEAMtalk) that he would be open to a switch to Serie A which could make a sale more plausible.
