Insider Dean Jones recently suggested that Everton could be looking to sign Wolves outcast Adama Traore this summer but face competition.
The Toffees have struggled to make any signings in the transfer window so far after losing their key man Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. but are linked with the likes of Armando Broja and Maxwel Cornet.
It has already been reported by The Sun that Burnley have snubbed the Toffees’ opening offer for their star winger who is rated around £18m.
However, according to Jones, manager Frank Lampard could look to bring in former Barcelona man and Wolves outcast Traore this summer to bolster their wing-back options.
Jones said on the Chasing Green Arrows podcast, “Everton have definitely been looking at him, definitely looking at a player of that kind. I’ve always been a bit pessimistic about whether they would actually go for him.”
TIF Thoughts on Traore to Everton…
After losing Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, Everton need to somehow replace his goals and importance to the team next season or fear facing another relegation battle without someone who can bail them out of difficult situations.
After last season, it is not certain that Traore could be this player for them. He managed 23 appearances for Wolves last season and picked up just one goal and then only made 16 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions with just four assists.
However, according to Fbref, the Spanish international ranked in the 99th percentile for dribbles completed, the 97th for progressive carries and the 75th percentile for shot-creating action during his time both at Wolves and Barcelona.
With these underlying numbers, Traore could be an effective attacking option and provider for a player like Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Anthony Gordon, but if they are looking for a Richarlison replacement they will likely need someone much better.
