Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has claimed that Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has no future at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan at Unai Emery’s Villarreal and enjoyed a rather successful spell helping the club on their impressive run to UEFA Champions League semi-final only to fall at the hands of Liverpool.
Reports are suggesting that the former Real Betis man is enjoying his time at Villarreal and is hoping that a deal can be agreed to remain there permanently.
Spurs are reportedly interested in the Yellow Submarine defender Pau Torres and Bridge believes that a potential deal for the Spaniard may include Lo Celso moving the other way as expected.
He told GIVEMESPORT:
I like what I’ve seen of Pau Torres and I’m sure there’s a deal to be done with Giovanni Lo Celso.
“Villarreal haven’t offered anywhere near what Tottenham want, but they know he’s got no future at Tottenham, and they can pretty much get him, they’re just trying to work out the fee for that one, so that’ll be an interesting one.”
TIF thoughts on Lo Celso…
It is safe to say the Rosario-born midfield ace hasn’t enjoyed the best of careers in north London, featuring in 84 games, registering eight goals and six assists and failing to nail down a permanent place in the fold due to inconsistent performances and failure to adapt to the English game.
Antonio Conte will be looking to build a side in his image this summer, one that desires to fulfil his wishes tactically and physically and it is clear that Lo Celso doesn’t hold the capabilities to do that despite his upturn in form on the east of Spain.
Selling the Argentine ace in a swap deal for Pau Torres seems an incredible piece of business with the Lilywhites looking to offload a player they don’t need with one Conte desperately wants, in order to strengthen his backline at the club. It is a no-brainer deal.
