Although at an “advanced” stage, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has said that Celtic’s move for Mohanad Jeahze is yet to progress.

Despite a season of overwhelming change and what was thought to be a campaign of ‘extensive rebuild’ at Parkhead, manager Ange Postecoglou secured a Scottish Premiership and League Cup double during his first year at the helm and must now put together a squad ahead of the Hoops’ return to the Champions League.

He has brought in no fewer than 17 players since his arrival in Glasgow and the club recently revealed the permanent signings of Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers but left-back remains an issue, with Greg Taylor the only natural option.

SunSport has claimed that Postecoglou is targeting the signing of a defender as soon as possible, while Joseph has previously revealed that Jeahze has told his current employers at Hammarby in Sweden that he wants to move to Scotland, and despite the delay, the reporter still believes a deal can be struck.

Would Jeahze improve Celtic at left-back?

He told GiveMeSport“They’ve already approached Mohanad Jeahze at Hammarby, and talks progressed to an advanced stage is what I was told.

“They haven’t gone any further yet – that doesn’t mean the deal is off the cards, it just means nothing has progressed any further.”

TIF Thoughts on Jeahze to Celtic…

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said in the past that the Swedish-born Iraq international would ‘definitely improve’ the Bhoys’ options at left-back.

Reports suggest that he would be available for around £2m, and since his move to Hammarby in 2020, the “class” full-back – as dubbed by his teammate Darijan Bojanic – has contributed three goals and 13 assists in 63 appearances for the club.

His current employers, who ironically also play in green and white hoops, sit third in the Swedish Allsvenskan after 10 games, with Jeahze ranking second on SofaScore for player ratings at the club with an average of 7.58.

That may suggest he is equipped to become a marauding presence down the left for the Lennoxtown outfit, so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
