Journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed that Christopher Scott will not be joining Celtic in the summer transfer window.
There have been reports stating that Celtic were keen to bring Scott to Parkhead, but they faced competition from English Premier League side Brentford, who were also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old’s progress.
However, Bayern Munich have supposedly triggered a contract extension, meaning that they would now receive a fee for Scott rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer. But Scott is keen to be at a club playing first-team football, and second-tier Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf have reportedly opened talks with the youngster.
Despite the reports stating that Celtic were interested in Scott, Joseph claimed to GiveMeSport that he is unlikely to join the Scottish side due to his desire to remain in Germany.
He said: “Christopher Scott is unlikely to join Celtic.
“Our last information and our colleagues at Sky Germany are saying that he is going to leave Bayern Munich. He’s not going to extend his contract, but he wants to stay in Germany.”
Do you think Scott could join Celtic?
TIF Thoughts on Joseph’s comments…
Scott has impressed whilst playing for Bayern’s second-string side, featuring 24 times, scoring seven goals and registering six assists in the most recent campaign. But he has still made just two first-team appearances for the German giants, which both came in the 2020/21 season.
At 20 years old, Scott might be keen to be playing regular senior football and Celtic could have been a good option for him as he would get an opportunity at some point because of the number of games that the Hoops play, with Europe, the league, and the domestic cup competitions that they usually reach the latter stages of.
But Joseph has claimed that his heart is set on staying in Germany, so unless Ange Postecoglou can either lure him into Parkhead on loan or offer him a bumper contract, any deal to the club looks unlikely.
