Journalist Fabrizio Romano has given Wolves a boost in terms of keeping Ruben Neves in the summer transfer window.

Wolves manager Bruno Lage has claimed that his Portuguese midfielder is worth £100m, but if a deal in the region of £70 million is to be offered, it might be accepted.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, but Neves has been tipped as another option for the Red Devils if there are any complications in the De Jong deal.

With Wolves setting their price so high for Neves, Romano claimed whilst speaking with GiveMeSport that the Old Gold do not see Manchester United paying £100m for a single player, so they might look elsewhere when recruiting this summer.

He said: “The point is about the price, because a few weeks ago, Wolves manager Bruno Lage said in public that they want around £100m for Ruben Neves.

“They don’t see Manchester United paying that money for a single midfielder like, in this case, Ruben Neves. I’m sure that they will consider other options.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Wolves had a disappointing end to the Premier League season, as they finished 10th which means they have no European football to contend with next campaign.

Neves has had attention from Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona, and with the trio all playing in European competition next season, this might be on the mind of Neves as he decides where to play his football next term.

However, Lage might have scared the punters off by claiming that he is worth £100m, and this might not go down well with the player, whose desire could be to leave the club, so it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
