Sky Sports News reporter Michael Birdge has claimed that Yves Bissouma is exactly what Tottenham manager Antonio Conte wants in a midfield player.
Bridge was speaking on The Transfer Show discussing the transfer of the Brighton midfielder to Spurs.
On Friday the club announced the signing of the Malian enforcer for £25m from the Seagulls and he becomes the third addition at the club already this summer following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
After securing Champions League football last season, chairman Daniel Levy seems willing to arm Conte with the ammunition he requires to solidify the north Londoners’ place in the top four with perhaps the opportunity of a trophy to come as well.
Coming into the final 12 months of his contract on the south coast provided the Whites with the opportunity to pounce at a cut price for the 25-year-old after four seasons at the AMEX Stadium.
Bissouma joins Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, who established himself in the engine room in the capital, while Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks also remain at the club and Bridge believes he’s the final piece in that area of the pitch that the Italian manager needed.
(2:11)”I think it’s a massive, massive signing for Tottenham and i think they’ve got very good value.
“That completes Tottenham’s central midfield. The guy dominates midfield. I think it’s a major signing and it’s exactly the kind of player that Conte wants to get the ball from deep and run with it so yeah huge signing.”
TIF Thoughts on Bissouma to Spurs…
Tottenham certainly mean business having already stolen a march on their rivals in this window with more reportedly to come.
Hailed as “phenomenal” by former Premier League midfielder Lee Hendrie, Bissouma can become a major player in the side.
His successful dribble rate of 70.5% just pips Hojbjerg and would bring another dimension to centre of the park and the solid foundations that the former Lille man can provide could allow the forward players to flourish.
