Nottingham Forest could now be set to make a move for Joe Rodon this summer, with Steve Cooper’s previous ties to the Welshman potentially playing a part.
It is believed Tottenham Hotspur are looking to move the 24-year-old on this summer with a serious lack of game time on offer for the centre-back.
But since Antonio Conte’s arrival at Spurs back in November, it has become apparent that Rodon is not in his plans, having made just five appearances under the Italian across all competitions.
Speaking on The Transfer Show, noted insider ExWHUemployee has been speaking about the possibility of Cooper reuniting with the Spurs ace this summer.
He said: “Joe Rodon, who’s at Spurs, signed from Swansea. And obviously, their manager, Cooper, was Swansea’s manager prior to being Notts Forest’s manager, so he will know how well Rodon did for Swansea.
“He hasn’t done very well for Spurs and I think Spurs are looking to move him on, so that could be an interesting one.”
TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…
It has been a difficult time in north London for Rodon, however, perhaps Forest fans could take some confidence from his efforts in the Welsh national side.
Who would you prefer at Forest this summer?
Rodon played all 90 minutes in each of the last six World Cup qualifiers for Wales, which eventually saw Page’s men secure their spot in Qatar later this year.
And it is apparent his teammate Gareth Bale still believes there is a lot for Rodon to give after he recently spoke about the 24-year-old’s lack of action at Spurs:
“For me personally, I feel like he should be playing at Tottenham. He’s shown time and time again how good he is, I think personally when I was there last year, I felt he deserved to be playing,” said Bale.
So despite things not going all his way at Spurs, perhaps a move to Forest could help rejuvenate Rodon’s career by helping the Reds avoid the drop this coming season.
