Jordan Cronin has revealed on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on Newcastle United’s striker transfer list.

Despite having an injury-hit season at Everton, Calvert-Lewin seemingly has a lot of potential suitors this summer, with both Newcatsle and Arsenal linked with a move for the England international, as his goalscoring record was still rather respectable this term, with five goals and two assists in 15 league starts.

It has been reported previously by The Telegraph that Newcastle are indeed going to lodge a bid for Calvert-Lewin this summer, however, according to Mark Douglas, Everton are set to demand a huge fee, claiming he is the English striker closest to Harry Kane’s level.

Cronin has now confirmed what he’s been told – that Calvert-Lewin is still on a striker list at Newcastle.

Would Calvert-Lewin be a good signing?

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “I keep going back to the term, but I think he is on the list, if you like. Do I think it’s a good move? Probably not.

“It’s quite similar to Callum Wilson, actually.  He’s an unbelievable centre-forward on his day. Obviously he’s a different player to Callum Wilson – big and strong, good in the air, gives you something a little bit different.”

TIF Thoughts on Calvert-Lewin…

The England international is still just 25-years old so has the best years ahead of him and while he’s spent the majority of this season on the sidelines, before that he’d not picked up a setback that saw him miss more than two games since the 2017/18 season.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, despite his decent record in front of goal for Everton, 58 strikes in 191 appearances, if the Toffees are wanting to receive a bid close to what Harry Kane was valued at last summer, more than the £100 million Manchester City offered Spurs, then the Magpies could likely go somewhere else for better value.
