Speaking on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel, journalist Lee Davey has claimed that Newcastle United transfer target Lucas Paqueta would be open to a move this summer.

Paqueta has been tipped for a move to Newcastle within the media, while fellow Brazilian midfielder and former teammate Bruno Guimaraes has claimed it would be a dream for Paqueta to join him after playing together out in France for Lyon.

The midfielder has reportedly got a £58m price tag, which would take up pretty much all of Newcastle’s reported summer transfer budget, so from that perspective, it would appear that a move is rather unlikely, although options remain open from the player’s side, according to Davey.

While speaking on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel, Davey delivered some positive Paqueta transfer news.

Will Newcastle sign Paqueta?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He said: “For me, again it will come down to cost, because Lyon are not going to let him go cheap, they are not going to let him go cheap at all. He is their star man, he is their star player, and to be fair, if he stays at Lyon, then Lyon have done a hell of a job of keeping hold of him.

“My understanding is that he’ll be open to a move, but we’ll see what happens certainly with that.”

TIF Thoughts on Paqueta…

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

The Brazilian would be a blockbuster arrival on Tyneside, not only in terms of the outlay it would cost PIF to bring him to Newcastle, but also because he’s a top creative talent – managing to rack up 117 shot-creating actions in Ligue 1 this season, which is more than anyone else in the Newcastle side.

However, with areas such as striker, goalkeeper, winger and left-back all seemingly bigger priorities, as focused on by The Athletic, splashing out nearly £60m on a midfielder perhaps seems like more of a dream move rather than a realistic option unless his asking price was reduced.
