Fabrizio Romano has been speaking to GiveMeSport about Manchester United transfer target Christian Eriksen and when he could decide his future.
It has been reported by The Athletic that while Man United have indeed made an offer to Eriksen about joining the Red Devils this summer, they aren’t alone in their pursuit – while he is also not their priority midfield target, which remains as Frenkie de Jong.
Bringing in a midfielder that Erik ten Hag already knows, having allowed the midfielder to train with his Ajax side earlier this year, and one that also has plenty of Premier League experience would appear to be a no-brainer for United, but it will come down to who Eriksen prefers to join this summer, according to Romano.
Romano believes that in the next 10 days, Eriksen should be making a decision on what his future will look like.
Do Man United need to sign Eriksen?
He said: “They had a conversation, a direct discussion with his agent Martin Schoots a few days ago, they discussed about a potential contract. So it’s a possibility, but also Tottenham and Brentford are pushing for him to go next season.
“So there are many possibilities for Eriksen and he will take some days before deciding his future. So I think maybe next week or in 10 days, we will have the final answer of Christian Eriksen.”
TIF Thoughts on Man United pursuing Eriksen…
It’s safe to say that Man United do need upgrades this summer, as last season’s sixth-place finish, which saw them end up 35 points behind league winners Manchester City won’t be seen as acceptable for much longer.
Eriksen, who has been labelled as ‘unbelievable’ by Brentford boss Thomas Frank, would certainly bring some creativity to the side as he ranked first for goal-creating actions per 90 minutes during his time in west London last season, which would be great news for someone such as Bruno Fernandes, who could see the burden on his shoulders become significantly easier to manage if another creative midfielder was to arrive.
