HLTCO Podcast presenter Dan Cook has claimed that Crystal Palace will look to bring in a striker this summer.
The Eagles were thought to be interested in a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah although it does appear that he will continue at the Emirates Stadium.
Nevertheless, Cook is of the impression that Palace’s rumoured admiration of the forward suggests that the club are still not satisfied with their current option at the top end of the pitch.
Osdonne Edouard, Jean Philippe-Mateta, Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew although also used on the right were all heavily involved for Patrick Vieira’s side last term in the Premier League with the former top-scoring out of the quartet netting six times.
Mateta (5), Benteke (4), Ayew (3) alongside Edouard failed to consistently deliver for the south London club hence why Vieira would be keen to explore other options with the latest name linked being that of Watford sharp-shooter Emmanuel Dennis.
Would you like Dennis at Palace?
Yes
No
The SE25 executives have been credited with an interest in the 24-year-old and for the right transfer fee, Cook can see a deal coming to fruition.
(8:35)”Whilst Christian Benteke, Odsonne Edouard, Jean-Philippe Mateta, etcetera, are players that can still do a job for us next season I think the pursuit that we had of Eddie Nketiah it shows that there is still a desire from Patrick Vieira to add more goals to the squad ahead of the new campaign and potentially Emmanuel Dennis fits that bill, albeit at a price that we feel represents value for money.”
TIF Thoughts on Dennis to Watford…
The Nigerian international reached double figures in the Premier League last season despite playing for a club that only scored more times (34) than basement outfit Norwich (23).
He certainly as the potential to thrive at a side like Palace who you’d like to think will be well clear of relegation danger and looking to build on their recent finish of 12th.
Dennis was used across the front three which is something that Vieria has tried with Edouard in the past so his versatility would also be a selling point and after goals against Manchester United, Leicester, Chelsea and West Ham during the most recent campaign he could be a shrewd investment.
