Newcastle United may feel lucky to have ended the game on Sunday afternoon with all 11 players still on the pitch.

This is according to journalist Kyle Bonn who took to Twitter to share what he felt could’ve been a second yellow offence for Dan Burn.

Should Burn have been shown a second yellow?

No

The Blyth-born defender was awarded an initial yellow card for a foul on Aymeric Laporte inside the box as Manchester City waited to take a corner.

Having been shown the yellow card by Attwell, Burn took his total up to eight for the campaign with four of those coming since he joined the Toon back in January.

However, the 30-year-old was seen voicing his disagreement with Stuart Attwell’s decision to show him a yellow card which Bonn picked up on:

“Dan Burn has been hurling f-bombs at Stuart Atwell for like, 5 minutes? How is he getting away with that? Surely that’s dissent if there ever was?”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

TIF Thoughts on Bonn’s comments…

Perhaps Burn was walking on ice by voicing his strong disagreement with the referee, however, it was apparent Attwell did not feel the need to send Burn for an early shower.

It has to be said Burn was seen on Sky Sports’ coverage swearing in the direction of the referee so it may be something which has since been mentioned in private to the defender.

And it would have been a big shame for the 30-year-old had he been sent back to the dressing room given the final home game of the season is next up for the Magpies.
