Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Graham Potter could be the successor of Antonio Conte if the Italian manager was to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Conte was appointed as Spurs boss earlier on in the season but there have been reports that he may leave the club in the summer, due to the board not backing him. The Italian brought Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur to the Premier League in January but he may have wanted to be backed more by Daniel Levy.

After the reports of Conte leaving the club, there have been further rumours that Potter could be the man to replace him, having impressing with Brighton this season.

Amid the reports, Jones questioned whether the English gaffer will be ready for the step up, whilst speaking with GiveMeSport.

“If Pochettino is not available, then it’s Graham Potter. They’re the only two people that people close to the club say they would consider appointing.

“Potter, it would be interesting to see if he’s ready to go to that level and how he would adapt, but if Conte does go, he will definitely be considered,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’s comments…

Potter has done a magnificent job with Brighton & Hove Albion this season, as the Seagulls now sit in the top half of the Premier League table, with just two games to go, after they finished 16th last term. The recent victories against Arsenal, Spurs, and Manchester United have proven that he can overcome the big sides.

Spurs would be disappointed to lose Conte after he has had just one transfer window to get players to suit his system in the door, but Potter could be deemed as a suitable replacement after the job he has done on the south coast, on such a little budget.
