Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is planning to stay with Manchester United for another season under new boss Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo has been the stand-out performer for Manchester United this season in his first campaign back in the Premier League, he is the third top scorer in the league with 18 goals, which is just four behind top scorer Mohamed Salah.

There have been reports that since the announcement of new manager Ten Hag for next season, he has told Ronaldo that he can leave in the summer, but he still has over 12 months remaining on his current contract with the club, so maybe inclined to stay.

Despite there being talks that Ronaldo will leave the club in the summer, Jones claimed to GiveMeSport that the Portuguese forward is planning to stick around for one more year in a United shirt.

“From what I know, Ronaldo is planning to stick at United for another season. He feels like there’s a chance that things will get better but, obviously, he has got to talk to ten Hag about how things might open up,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments…

Interestingly, it has been claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is considering leaving Manchester United, which makes Dean Jones’ a rather big surprise as he seems to think that he’s staying.

In what has been a difficult season for Manchester United, Ronaldo has been the star man, and in terms of stats, he has stolen the show. In the Premier League for his side, he has the joint highest average player rating per game (7.28), he has the most goal involvements (21) and he has the second-highest amount of big chances created (7), as per Sofascore.

With the poor form of United this season, currently sitting sixth in the league table, it may have been expected for Ronaldo to leave Old Trafford, but the introduction of new manager Ten Hag may have persuaded him to see out his contract.

If Ronaldo does stay at the club, then it will be a huge boost for the Dutch manager, because having someone like that at the club adds invaluable experience and he may attract players to want to come and play with him.
