Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has posted an Instagram photo of what seems to be him back to his usual self.

Trippier returned to the Premier League when he signed for Newcastle United in the January transfer window from La Liga side Atletico Madrid. The English defender played just four games in a Magpies shirt before he was unfortunately injured against Aston Villa.

The 31-year-old scored two impressive free-kicks in back-to-back games for Newcastle against Everton and Aston Villa, and he recently returned to action for Eddie Howe in their recent defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Where do you think Newcastle will finish next season?

With the defender’s lengthy absence from the side, the Newcastle faithful will be delighted to see him throwing himself around ahead of Sunday after this post on Instagram.

TIF Thoughts on why Newcastle fans will be excited about Kieran Trippier’s image…

Of course, Newcastle fans will have witnessed the defender in training last week and on the substitutes’ bench in their last outing, but now seeing him putting himself about could suggests he’s more than ready for action from the start if his fitness is up to scratch.

Trippier has featured just five times for Newcastle, but he has impressed since his return to the Premier League as he currently has the highest average player rating per game at the club (7.42), he makes the most tackles on average per game (2.8) and also the most interceptions on average per game (2), as per Sofascore.

So, after conceding five against Manchester City last time out, perhaps Eddie Howe will decide to lean on Trippier’s experience and obvious defensive ability to help try keep out an Arsenal side that will be desperate to bounce back after defeat against Tottenham with a top four spot still in their hands.
