Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Allan Saint-Maximin will be looking for a new club ahead of the summer transfer window.

Saint-Maximin has been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle United after the Magpies are reportedly willing to sell him if the price is right. However, the French winger may be inclined to stay in the Premier League, with Wolverhampton Wanderers showing interest in his signature.

Do you think Saint-Maximin will leave Newcastle?

The Frenchman has been a star in the Newcastle side since he signed from OGC Nice in 2019, having made 90 appearances in the three seasons that he has been at St. James’s Park.

After the Saudi takeover late last year, Jones indicated to GiveMeSport that he may not be the star man at Newcastle anymore, which may lead to a move away from the club:

“He’s not going to be Newcastle’s star man anymore. I think he’s going to be looking for a new club. I don’t think he’ll deliver every week; I think that’s why Newcastle are ready to move on beyond him,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’s comments…

Saint-Maximin has been a standout performer for Newcastle this season, in the Premier League, he has the most goal contributions at the club (9), he has the most ‘big chances created’ (5), and has the most successful dribbles on average per game (4.3), as per Sofascore.

If the Magpies were to part ways with Saint-Maximin, then it could be a huge loss for Eddie Howe, he had been one of their main men this season and although they may be looking to invest big in the summer, his numbers may not be able to be replicated.

If Newcastle did bring in some new talent in the summer, then Howe could look to build the team around Saint-Maximin, as he is a player who already knows the league and is arguably performing at a level that is able to take the club to the next step.
