Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Robert Lewandowski is one of Erik ten Hag’s dream signings for Manchester United in the summer.

Lewandowski has been the main man for Bayern Munich over the past eight seasons, scoring a remarkable 344 goals in 375 games in all competitions. He has received heaps of praise over the years and was described as ‘extraordinary‘ after he equalled Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record of scoring 40 Bundesliga goals last season.

The Polish striker has recently said that if an offer comes in for him, it would be beneficial for both himself and the club to think about it and decide on his future based on the deal.

With the news that Lewandowski could be available to buy in the summer, Jones told GiveMeSport that he would be a dream signing for Ten Hag at Manchester United in the Premier League.

Jones said: “If he could dream the impossible dream, then I think he’d get Matthijs de Ligt at the back, Frenkie de Jong in midfield and Robert Lewandowski up front.

“That would be an ultimate dream to fix three situations in this team and get them back in the top four and competing for trophies, but it’s just not realistic.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Lewandowski’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season, and was one of the best players in the Bundesliga this campaign, ranking fourth in terms of average player rating (7.47), finishing as the league’s top scorer with 35 goals and having the best goals-per-minute ratio (every 84 minutes), as per SofaScore.

If United can bring in a player of this magnitude to Old Trafford in the summer, then it would arguably put them into the title race, due to the immense goalscoring record that Lewandowski has, however, with them not having Champions League football next season, it may seem unlikely that he would join.
