Callum Wilson has been speaking on The Footballer’s Football podcast about his Newcastle United future.

After spending several months out with a big injury that saw him limp off back in December, Wilson managed to make his first start against Arsenal on Monday night and was a constant threat running in behind, even getting Ben White booked very early on.

Will Wilson start for Newcastle next season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The striker almost made a dream return to the first team when he looked destined to volley home a low Joelinton cross, only for White to slide in and stab it into his own net just before Wilson could get a touch on the ball.

On The Footballer’s Football podcast, Wilson and co-host Michail Antonio spoke about playing together at some point, with the latter claiming if it was to happen, Wilson would have to join West Ham United – something the Toon striker wasn’t having, saying:

“Nah, I’m not leaving the Toon, the place is too much.”

TIF Thoughts on Wilson…

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

This will be huge news for Newcastle, as Wilson has been a top servant for the club since signing back in 2020, racking up 18 goals in just 38 league starts, so if the Magpies can recruit another striker alongside Wilson to help ease the burden and hopefully reduce his risk of injuries, it could be an attacking force to be reckoned with.

While Wilson is still the club’s top scorer and clearly very important to how they play and the fact they managed to stay in the league – particularly last season – his injury record cannot be ignored, meaning that despite him confirming he’d love to stay at the club, it’s likely the Toon will look to recruit another centre-forward as he can’t be relied upon too heavily.
