According to journalist Dean Jones, Leeds United would increase the quality in the squad if they do manage to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star man Daichi Kamada in the summer transfer window.

Leeds have had a rough season in 21/22 as they look set to face relegation with only two games left and will need to secure six points in these two to give them any sort of hope of not playing Championship football next season.

Despite this, manager Jesse Marsch and director of football Victor Orta have been looking ahead to the summer transfer window at new signings to bolster the team regardless of their league situation.

The latest name on the lips of the Yorkshire team’s brass is Frankfurt’s Kamada who has enjoyed a fruitful season with the German outfit as they gear up for the Europa League final next week against Rangers, which could be the team’s first trophy since the 17/18 season.

With this in mind, Leeds have looked at the midfielder as a possible target in the summer, with Jones believing the Japanese player will vastly improve their squad if they do get the deal over the line.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think if he came in alongside [Brenden] Aaronson, he would lift the quality of that squad tenfold. That’s exactly what they’re going to need next season.

“If Leeds stay up, they can’t just be relieved that they’ve survived and slightly upgrade. Leeds need pretty big upgrades all over the pitch.

“I think the key to that is the centre of the park, so it’s something they’re going to look at.”

TIF thoughts on Kamada rumours…

Regardless of if they stay up or face relegation, Leeds need to work in the summer to bolster the squad as the main reason for their demise this season has been a lack of squad depth and injuries.

Kamada would bring some much-needed firepower upfront as the Japanese international has racked up nine goals and four assists across all competitors this season, which would rank him highly among the current crop at Leeds this season.

He has also averaged 1.2 shots which would rank him higher than Jack Harrison and Joe Gelhardt, one key pass putting him fourth this season for the Whites, one dribble which would be third for Leeds, and 0.9 long balls per game on 80.5% passing accuracy. (Whoscored)

We think Leeds need to reinvest in the squad next season and bringing in someone with European experience would be a great step forward in their rebuild under Marsch.
