Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made his 100th appearance for the north London club on Sunday afternoon.

And Sky Sports presenter Jamie Weir was left stunned by the news, with the Danish midfielder only joining Spurs back in the summer of 2020.

Should Hojbjerg be starting next season?

No

No

Spurs sealed all three points at the weekend in their victory over Burnley, which saw the 26-year-old play all 90 minutes under Antonio Conte.

And he has played a huge role in the starting XI at Spurs since signing from Southampton in 2020, with 73 Premier League appearances under his belt.

With just one game remaining in the 2021/22 campaign, Hojbjerg has missed just two league games this season and it was apparent Weir was blown away by how quickly he had racked up 100 appearances:

“Norwich on Sunday will mean he’s played 101 times in TWO seasons! That’s pretty staggering,” Weir tweeted.

TIF Thoughts on Weir’s tweet…

It is quite a feat for Hojbjerg to have remained such a consistent figure in the Spurs XI across his first two seasons in north London under the four managers he has seen in such a short space of time.

And we think Hojbjerg holds a trait which is incredibly underrated by football fans – his ability to remain fit and injury-free.

Already, Rodrigo Bentancur has missed more game time in his first few months than the Dane has for Spurs since across his two seasons in north London.

Hojbjerg did endure a tricky spell this season, however, his performances have returned to his usual high standards and we think he has become a huge part of Tottenham’s squad.
