Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka would rather fight for his place at Manchester United than leave the club.

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in bringing Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window, and there have been recent rumours that United are willing to sell him if the right deal is put on the table.

Wan-Bissaka has been out of favour for Old Trafford this season, featuring in just 20 of their Premier League games due to the emergence of Diogo Dalot as the first-choice right-back.

Would Wan-Bissaka be a good option for Palace?

No

No

Despite the links of United being open to letting Wan-Bissaka leave the club in the summer, Taylor highlighted to GiveMeSport that the player would rather stay at the club.

He said: “I’m not sure how attainable Wan-Bissaka is because if United are going to loan him out, they’re going to be looking for a significant obligation or option to buy.

“Messages coming from Wan-Bissaka’s side is that he would prefer to fight for his place at United anyway, so I’m not even sure he will leave even though United are open to getting rid of him.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

Although Wan-Bissaka has been out of favour for United this season, in the Premier League, he made 2.5 tackles and 1.7 interceptions on average per game, which is the highest in each department at the club, as per WhoScored.

With the impressive defensive stats of Wan-Bissaka, a move back to Palace for him could be a good option to get some regular game time and attempt to revisit the form that he once had which initially earned him the move to Manchester United.

Tyrick Mitchell, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise are three young players who have thrived from Patrick Vieira’s youthful approach this season, so Wan-Bissaka could be another player to excel back at Selhurst Park if he joined next season.

However, based on Taylor’s information, it looks like a return to south London is unlikely. That said, if Palace would have to hand back a large proportion of the transfer fee they received from Manchester United three years ago in order to do a deal, perhaps they are better off looking elsewhere to bolster their squad this summer.
