Football pundit Alan Rough has claimed that the league’s post-split fixtures favour Celtic in the title race.

Earlier this week, with the top and bottom six teams in the league now decided, the final five rounds of the competition were named.

As a result, the Bhoys will face Ross County (away), Rangers (home), Hearts (h), Dundee United (a), and Motherwell (h) as they seek to regain their Premiership crown from their Old Firm rivals.

Did the split draw favour Celtic?

While speaking about the remaining games on the PLZ Soccer Show, Rough claimed that this run of matches should be enough to see Celtic clinch the trophy.

He explained his thinking, saying: “For me, the split, I think, has favoured Celtic.

“I think Celtic have got the two hardest games at home, and Rangers have got the two hardest games away from home.

“They are taking care of all the other sides. Celtic have got Hearts at home, they’ve Rangers at home.

“Rangers have got Hearts away and Celtic away. You know, I think that swings it a wee bit.”

TIF thoughts on Celtic’s title hopes…

Going into the split, the two teams closest to Celtic at the top of the table are Rangers and Hearts. With that in mind, it’s easy to understand why Rough claims things have worked out in favour of the Bhoys as those two ‘hardest’ games will take place at Celtic Park.

Of course, the Old Firm derby could be as decisive as ever and so plenty of eyes will be on that game which takes place on 1st May. However, the two teams met recently, and with the Hoops claiming a 2-1 away win over Rangers, they may well feel confident of getting another positive result, this time at home.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Saying all that, nothing is won on paper and Ange Postecoglou and co still have plenty of work to do if they want to end up victorious in this particular competition.
