Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Wolves will need to decide on the future of Morgan Gibbs-White with the 22-year-old excelling in first-team football this season.

Morgan Gibbs-White was not in the plans of Bruno Lage this season in the Premier League, so he was sent out on loan to Championship side Sheffield United. He has impressed whilst on loan with the Blades, scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists in 32 Championship games.

With links emerging regarding a potential move away from Molineux for current star midfielder Ruben Neves in the summer, this could be the opportunity that Gibbs-White needed in terms of cementing his place in the starting XI.

With Gibbs-White being so impressive for Sheffield United this season, O’Rourke spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that a big decision will have to be made on where he plays his football next season.

He said: “If Wolves do decide to cash in on him, I’m sure there’ll be a lot of takers for him. So, it’s a big decision for Wolves and Gibbs-White this summer, because I’m sure he’s got that taste of first-team football.

“He’ll be looking to play regularly, and if he’s never going to get that at Wolves, he might have to decide to move on.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Gibbs-White has stood out for Sheffield United this season as they seek to gain promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs. For the Blades in the league, he has the second-highest average player rating (7.12), the second-highest goal contributions with 17 and the most big chances created for his side (13), as per SofaScore.

We believe that if the young English midfielder is not promised regular game time next season for Wolves, he will most likely seek a move away from Molineux on a permanent deal rather than another loan move, and with his impressive performances this term, there should be a lot of interest in him.
