Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke has been speaking to Givemesport about the ambitious transfer duo Wolves are looking to land this summer.

Bruno Lage and Wolves will be looking to build this summer after a promising first season under the watchful eye of the Portuguese boss and that means bringing in players that can or will look to improve the squad and starting lineup for next season.

Will Wolves sign both Nunes and Palhinha

No!

After a damaging loss to Newcastle United on Friday night, Wolves’ chances of clinching a European spot come the end of the season appear to be fading away, so adding some quality over the summer would help them get over that last hurdle they appear to have potentially fallen at this season under Lage.

Wolves have been linked with a swoop for Sporting Lisbon duo Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes with O’Rourke confirming this interest and labelling it ‘very ambitious’ as he spoke to Givemesport:

Those two players from Sporting are two quality players. We’ve seen that with Sporting in the Champions League this season. I think they would be very ambitious targets for Wolves right now because I think there’s quite a few other clubs looking at some of those players as well. Maybe Wolves are trying to steal in ahead of their rivals and set up things for both players.’

TIF Thoughts on Wolves’ transfer targets…

As O’Rourke mentioned, Wolves looking to sign both Palhinha and Nunes would be ambitious, but this is what fans will want to see, their club looking to land targets that are being eyed up by other top clubs, and especially ones that have been playing in the Champions League this season.

However, something that may be worrying for Wolves is that both of these targets are central midfielders which could point towards Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho leaving Molineux in the summer, something that David Ornstein has claimed is a possibility at the end of the season.
