The state of play for the Hammers next season is unclear, they could still make the Champions League with fourth place still on mathematically, or they could win the Europa League. However, there is a chance they finish outside of the European places altogether given how tight it is.

So, with plenty still to be decided, that impacts the plans for David Moyes and co when it comes to their summer recruitment strategy. Transfer insider Dean Jones has spoken about this.

He has gone on record to GiveMeSport claiming: “One of the things I keep being told about West Ham is: ‘We’re not making a proper shortlist of targets yet because we don’t know exactly what we can offer people.’”

Granted, West Ham don’t know what they’ll be doing next season so it is hard to plan, but they could draw up potential shortlists that depend on how the season finishes for them.
