It’s been a memorable season so far for West Ham United, being firmly in the mix to secure European football once again next season.

The Hammers are also still competing in Europe, setting up a tasty quarter-final in the Europa League, taking on Lyon.

Although this season has been a major success already, that doesn’t mean they didn’t want to strengthen in January and they will have their sights set on the summer window already.

Will West Ham spend big this summer?

There’s rumours that West Ham could reignite their interest in Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips after having a bid rejected on deadline day in January.

Speaking on a podcast, ExWHUEmployee had the following to say on the potential transfer: “There was definite interest in him 100% but obviously, we weren’t offering the money that they wanted us to offer, as per some would say and it didn’t get anywhere close to happening. So I’d be interested to see what happens in the summer whether we go back for him but if it was down to me, I don’t think that’s the priority position.

“But if that’s where Moyes wants to sign a player, then I don’t feel you could get any better because he is proven in the Premier League, he’s proven to play alongside Declan Rice, he’s an England international, he’s from a club who realistically we could buy a player from in the top level so yeah, for me, he’d definitely be top of my recruitment list if I was looking for that position, definitely.”

TIF thoughts on Kalvin Phillips…

With Leeds looking more likely to stay up, that would automatically make any move for him harder, but should they go down, you could definitely see this transfer happening.

A staple of FIFA Ultimate Team in 2012, which Nigerian striker had a disastrous spell at the Hammers?

The Englishman has had a frustrating season so far. He is just now returning the matchday squads after a lengthy injury that has kept him out since December.

Dubbed as “unique“, Phillips played in every game at the EUROs alongside Declan Rice, helping England reach the final of the competition, so he clearly has a good relationship with Rice and could make a big difference to West Ham.
