Presenter Dave Walker has expressed his disbelief after hearing West Ham United defender Issa Diop has suffered a bad injury.

Indeed, it was revealed recently by ExWHUemployee that the centre-back has sustained a serious ankle injury after picking up a knock against Burnley and could now miss the rest of the season.

Considering that Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna are both struggling with their own fitness issues at the moment, too, West Ham have found themselves in a bit of a sticky situation.

Upon hearing the news, it’s safe to say Walker was feeling pretty down on his luck. Indeed, speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he couldn’t hide his frustration.

He said: “Honestly, this could not have come at a worse time. And I mean, this is shocking to me because I just didn’t think it would be that bad with Diop.

“I mean, our luck is terrible at the moment. That is so bad. That is such bad news, it’s unbelievable.”

TIF Thoughts on Issa Diop and West Ham…

No doubt, Walker is most concerned about how the club will have to approach their upcoming exploits in Europe. Indeed, after beating Lyon in the last round of the Europa League, they will now have to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-final.

How well do you know these West Ham squad numbers? Starting off with an easy one: Declan Rice

Of their regular starting centre-backs, it looks as though Craig Dawson may well be the only man fit and available to feature in that game, and with plenty to fight for in the closing stages of the Premier League, too, David Moyes’ squad will be stretched to its limits.

Taking everything into account, it’s pretty easy to understand why Walker couldn’t contain this outburst. No doubt, he’ll be praying for a miraculous return to fitness for one of the club’s defenders in the near future.
