Presenter Dan Lawless has slammed West Ham United striker Michail Antonio for his display in the club’s last game.

In the Premier League this weekend, goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney we enough for Brentford to sink the Hammers in a disappointing 2-0 away defeat.

One man who apparently did not impress at all was the Irons forward, who drew the ire of Lawless for his dismal outing. Indeed, the West Ham Fan TV man took to Twitter to say it was the worst performance of the campaign from the whole team – but reserved specific criticism for Antonio.

Has Michail Antonio been good enough for West Ham recently?

Lawless said: “Absolute worst performance of the season, the players looked complacent and uninterested. Antonio was shocking, he really needs to step up. All that matters now is that we win on Thursday. Expect nothing less than 100% from the players.”

TIF thoughts on Michail Antonio and West Ham…

According to SofaScore, Antonio picked up a match rating of just 6.3, while he managed just 0.1 better in the last game against Lyon. He also only won 3/10 duels and failed to complete both of his dribble attempts.

Indeed, the first leg in the Europa League quarter-final ended 1-1, so the Hammers will need to be at their best if they are to claim the win away in France.

However, against Brentford, Antonio didn’t even manage to get a shot at goal, while his passing accuracy was down at 72% (via SofaScore). He’ll need to do a lot better if he is to help his team go one step further in Europe this week.
