Presenter Dan Lawless has reacted with anger online after ITV failed to acknowledge West Ham United as a top-four contender.

As we enter the final stretch of the season, the final Champions League space is still very much up for grabs. Indeed, Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the coveted position, though they sit level on points with Arsenal and have played one more game. Behind them by only three points are the Hammers and Manchester United.

How well do you know these West Ham squad numbers? Starting off with an easy one: Declan Rice

Despite there clearly being four teams who are fighting for the one league position, when ITV sent out a tweet asking who will finish fourth in the Premier League, they did not include West Ham.

This evidently irked Lawless, who responded by saying: “Look at this disrespect from a channel that is only relevant every 2 years. “Big 6″ bootlickers.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham and the top four race…

The Irons may never have finished in one of the Champions League places during the Premier League era, but they could certainly have a season where they challenge their history.

In fact, they already are. It might not be Europe’s premier competition, but they are still flying in the Europa League. Indeed, after beating Sevilla, they will now face Lyon in the quarter-final of the tournament and this is the furthest they have ever been in the competition.

Will West Ham come fourth this year?

Yes

No

No

Should they beat Lyon and go on to win the tournament, they would end up in the Champions League – so can qualify via that route. Back in England, though, there is certainly still a chance that they finish in the top four.

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why Lawless feels disrespected by ITV’s post.
