Presenter ExWHUemployee has been left highly impressed after West Ham United loanee Conor Coventry scored a fine goal.

Since joining MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season in January, the 21-year-old seems to have had a pretty good impact on the League One club. Incredibly, the club have lost just once in the division since Coventry arrived and he has started every game in that period.

To add to the great time he’s been having, Coventry even managed to net the first senior goal of his career in a recent match. Indeed, in a 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra, the midfielder drove with the ball at his feet before unleashing a powerful effort from some distance that flew past the opposition goalkeeper.

Does Conor Coventry deserve a chance at West Ham next season?

When talking about the goal on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex outlined just how taken aback he was by the strike, calling it a ‘beauty’.

He said: “He is playing for one of the in-form teams in the country at the moment. And this continued on Tuesday as MK Dons beat Crewe 2-1 at home.

“And it would be a game to remember for Conor, as he scored his first goal for the MK Dons and his first senior goal – and it was a beauty.

“I don’t know if you saw it, but he broke through the midfield and basically smacked it in.

“A really good finish.”

TIF Thoughts on Conor Coventry and West Ham…

Coventry began the season with Championship club Peterborough United earlier this term, but things didn’t go so well for him there.

It certainly seems as though he is making the most of this loan spell, though – especially as his new set of supporters supposedly now refer to him as the ‘Irish Xavi’.

Add to that, this latest display of quality, and David Moyes may well have to consider him an option in the West Ham team next term.

Although, it’s one thing being able to do it in League One, and another stepping up for a Premier League club.
