Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed West Ham United man Conor Coventry must have had one of the best weeks of his life while out on loan.

After spending the first half of the season with Championship club Peterborough United earlier this term – where things didn’t go so well – the 21-year-old joined MK Dons for the rest of the campaign.

Fortunately, that move seems to have done him the world of good. Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex shared that after some promising recent displays, Coventry is now being dubbed as the ‘Irish Xavi’ by his new fans.

He said: Conor Coventry is currently at MK Dons, who are third in the league and chasing down Wigan, who are second, for an automatic promotion spot.

“This was probably one of Coventry’s best weeks of his life. Two matches, two Man of the Match awards, and one assist to go with it. He is also now being hailed ‘the Irish Xavi’ by MK Dons fans.”

TIF Thoughts on Conor Coventry and West Ham…

The first of the two games was a 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic away from home, in which Coventry produced a ‘perfectly-weighted pass’ for his teammate Tennai Watson to open the scoring. After the match, he was named in the League One Team of the Week.

Just four days later, he played the full 90 as MK Dons claimed another 2-0 win, this time at home against Bolton Wanderers. He was given Man of the Match for that game.

Taking all that into account, it’s clear to see the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is having a fine time away from West Ham. It’s little wonder Ex is happy to claim it must have been one of the best weeks of the footballer’s life.
