Tottenham Hotspur secured a huge win on Saturday, making it the perfect weekend for Antonio Conte’s side after dispatching a wasteful Aston Villa 4-0 on their travels.
After Arsenal slipped up at home to Brighton losing 2-1, the focus switched to Villa Park where Spurs had to capitalise. Conte’s men made no mistakes with a comfortable victory.

Heung-Min Son was the hero, scoring a hattrick on the day to ensure the points returned to London with Spurs. Dejan Kulusevski was the other goal scorer, with Harry Kane settling for a more creative role with two assists after not managing to get on the scoresheet himself.
Despite the result, some Spurs players weren’t happy, with Rob Guest picking up on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s frustration, saying he was angry and the following:
“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was also not too impressed on a couple of occasions in the encounter after being caught late when competing for the ball. Having a word with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins in the first half after one challenge, another late tackle on the Dane saw him go over and speak to referee Graham Scott five minutes after the restart.”
It’s never nice as a player to be fouled multiple times, as the more fouls committed on you the more chance there is of you picking up a knock. Missing games at this stage of the season would be catastrophic, with every game feeling like a must win.
However, Hojbjerg picked up a foul himself and was given a yellow card, so he can’t feel too hard done by.
Despite his frustrations, he’ll be happy with the day overall. It was a perfect day for Spurs who moved three points clear of Arsenal to consolidate fourth place in the table, although the Gunners have a game in hand still.
And, the Danish international was in fine form as he had 95 touches, made three tackles, two interceptions, two clearances and won eight duels (as per SofaScore).
