Fabio Paratici will be looking at the free agents market in the summer transfer window to provide Tottenham Hotspur with some new faces.

This is according to Alasdair Gold, who was speaking on his latest YouTube video where he discussed the club’s plans for the upcoming market.

And it is believed the club hold a strong interest in West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is set to be without a club come the end of the season.

Other names that are expected to be looking for a new club in the summer as a free agent include Paulo Dybala and Jesse Lingard, who have both been linked to the north London club.

With Cristian Romero and Dejan Kulusevski both players who are likely to be signed permanently, Gold feels the free agency market could be an important one for the Lilywhites after being asked whether those prospective deals will affect Spurs’ transfer activity.

He said: “I’ve had people asking me will that impact this [summer] budget or will it be on a separate budget. It doesn’t really work like that. When you’re trying to bring in players, you look at essentially how it impacts that season, then you know that for next season you will have to pay that if you want to keep them.

“So yes, I guess it is part of that, but Spurs know that they need more than that. So they can’t allow it to impact hugely. But what I would say, I do think Paratici will look at free transfers as well. And he will look at more loans to buy.

“Loans to buy have probably been Spurs’ most successful kind of thing – Gollini aside – you look at Romero and Kulusevski, brilliant signings.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s claim…

It will be important to remember this summer that Spurs are likely to part with around £65m in transfer fees for Romero and Kulusevski.

However, this does not mean they should not be doing all they can to provide Antonio Conte with what he needs to push Spurs forward for the 2022/23 campaign.

And we do think there is value to be had in some of the free agents this summer, with Johnstone and Lingard both players who we think could improve the Spurs squad given their Premier League experience.
