Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Newcastle United are one of the front runners leading the chase to sign Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford has struggled this season due to injury woes and being out of favour at the club, he has made just 10 starts in the Premier League for Manchester United, whilst making a further nine appearances from the bench.

The English winger has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer after he has become frustrated with the lack of game time that has been handed to him this season under Ralf Rangnick.

After it has been apparent that Rashford could seek a move elsewhere in the summer, Dean Jones reported to GIVEMESPORT that the two sides who lead the race for the English star are Newcastle United and Arsenal.

“I think as soon as Rashford’s future came into doubt, we did a story on the fact that Arsenal and Newcastle would be the two teams expected to lead the chase for Rashford, and I think that is the case,” Jones said.

Dwight Yorke even described the Man United attacker as a ‘serious baller’ after his injury return earlier on this season. Interestingly, the attacker clocked in faster than Allan Saint-Maximin lasts season with a top speed of 36.26 km/h compared to the Frenchman’s 34.2km/h.

Marcus Rashford has had a frustrating season for Manchester United this season, he has not played a full 90 minutes for his side in the Premier League since December 27th against Newcastle. He also has a successful dribble percentage per game of just 47%, has created just three big chances in 19 league games, and averages just 0.5 shots on target per game, as per Sofascore.

The English winger’s current market value is £70 million, according to Transfermarkt, and with the newly found wealth of Newcastle United, this figure may not scare them off, but to a club like Arsenal, who have reluctantly spent in the past, this figure may be too high for them.

In the previous three Premier League seasons, Marcus Rashford has scored over 10 goals, so this season could be seen as just a one-off and if was given regular game time next campaign then he would return to his previous form.
