Pundit Gary Neville has spoken to Leeds United players who have been impressed with the sessions that new boss Jesse Marsch has been putting on.

Jesse Marsch was brought into Elland Road following the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa at the start of March. Bielsa’s sacking came on the back of a month to forget (February) for Leeds after they broke the record for the most goals conceded (20) in a calendar month.

Jesse Marsch lost his two opening games as Leeds boss, but since he has been given more time, he has won two games on the bounce, which is the first time they have done this all season.

After the recent consecutive wins for Leeds, Gary Neville spoke on Sky Sports Overlap and stated that he had a conversation with two Leeds players who were impressed with the American Coach since his arrival at the club.

“I spoke to couple of the Leeds lads, I know one of them reasonably well, and asked him what he’s like. He said he’s really impressive. His sessions are fantastic,”

“Maybe I wasn’t expecting that answer from the two Leeds lads that I spoke to because I was imagining that they were so ‘Bielsa mad’ about what he’s done there because Bielsa is a huge favourite of those players and they were deeply upset when he left.” Neville said.

TIF Thoughts on Gary Neville’s comments…

It is a bit of a surprise to see Leeds players already so in love with Jesse Marsch after Bielsa, though I suppose they’re not exactly going to speak negatively on their new manager.

Whoever Marcelo Bielsa’s successor was at Leeds United was always going to have a lot of pressure on them, after the Argentine was loved at the club by the supporters because of what he achieved at Elland Road. He managed to lead them on to promotion to the top flight of English football for the first time in 16 years and played a very exciting style of football, despite the amount of goals that were leaked.

Jesse Marsch has recently managed in Germany and is just the third American to manage in the Premier League, so this has brought added pressure to his name, but he has seemingly dealt with it well having won two games on the spin for his side, both thanks to last-minute winners.
