Pete Graves has been speaking on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel about Allan Saint-Maximin’s future at Newcastle United.

Saint-Maximin is currently enjoying one of his best seasons in front of goal with five goals and three assists in the Premier League, however, his last strike was in January when he scored against Watford, which has started to raise questions about his long-term future on Tyneside and whether he fits into Eddie Howe’system.

Should Saint-Maximin get a new contract?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Reports emerged over the weekend that Newcastle could be open to selling their French winger this summer, with Aston Villa credited with an interest, although he would cost any potential suitor £50m.

However, Graves doesn’t see PIF and Newcastle United wanting to move on Saint-Maximin this summer, and instead could be looking to extend his stay.

He said: “I’ve got no doubt that the club rate him very highly and I think this talk about him leaving, I think it’s nonsense, to be honest. I could be wrong, but I think he’s more likely to sign a new contract than leave.”

An easy one to start with, which player was booked after pushing Bentancur to the ground?

This comes as an unexpected twist as it was recently reported that Newcastle are ready to sell the Frenchman.

Howe has admitted recently that there is nobody else like Saint-Maximin and it might be best to just let him do what he does best – dazzling fans and twisting defenders inside-out, which is proved through his dribbling stats having completed by far and away the most within the Newcastle squad (as per FBRef).

Saint-Maximin has only started one game since 13th February because of fitness issues and seemingly not being favoured or trusted enough to carry out specific instructions in more difficult games, but Howe will recognise that he has a truly special player on his hands who must be handled in the right way to get the best output from him.
