Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden has posted a potentially positive injury update on Instagram.

Hayden has not played any football since December when he picked up an injury in the defeat against Manchester City and this knock was serious enough to see him cut from Eddie Howe’s 25-man Premier League squad for the second half of the season.

Does Hayden have a future at Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Hayden is now back in training and has been for some time, clearly pushing himself to get back fit and ready as soon as possible to give himself the best chance of proving to Howe he’s worth keeping around at the club next season in what is an exciting time to be a Magpies player.

The midfielder took to Instagram to post a picture of him training out on the grass with a football, accompanied with the caption: “Road to recovery nearly complete, forever smiling.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

A quick scroll through Hayden’s social media activity and it’s clear to see that even though he’s been cut from the squad and won’t play any more first-team football this season, he’s clearly engrossed in Newcastle United and only wants the best for them – even tweeting out after the club’s defeat to Chelsea: “Some performance from the boys against 12 men today. Proud to be associated with the club is an understatement” after key decisions went against Newcastle in their 1-0 defeat.

Hayden has proved to be a superb piece of business after arriving from Arsenal for just £2.6m and has gone on to lift the Championship title as well as racking up 171 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions, so this would be a cruel way for Hayden bow out of life on Tyneside if he’s never seen on the pitch again, but life will be slightly cut-throat this summer as PIF look to take Newcastle to the next level.
