Although it was a momentous victory in their hunt for Premier League survival, Friday marked a landmark in Bruno Guimaraes’ short career with the Toon as the Brazilian made his first start for the club at their St James’ Park home.
He shared his delight at making his full home debut on Instagram, dropping the following message to supporters after the game.
He wrote: “Happy to be able to make my debut at home. From my first days here, I felt that the atmosphere was wonderful. Today, on the pitch, I could see it for myself.
“I’m sure that this is just the first game in a beautiful story at St James Park.”
It took Guimaraes until his 10th appearance in the Premier League to finally start at St James’ Park, but you feel it will be the first of many for the Brazilian midfielder.
