Reporter Pete Graves has been speaking on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel about the sort of players Newcastle United will be targeting this summer.

Newcastle were the Premier League’s big spenders during the January transfer window, bringing in five new recruits and spending just shy of £100m – and if they manage to maintain their top-flight status, fans could well be expecting this to be bettered in the summer window.

Should Newcastle sign Paqueta?

No!

However, reports have gone against this idea, with The Telegraph claiming that PIF will hand a less hefty budget than January’s, with just £60m set to be handed to the manager. If this is to be true, Eddie Howe may have to work smart in the transfer market to pull off some potential coups.

Graves believes that Howe and PIF could target two key areas of the transfer market this summer.

He said: “I wouldn’t be surprised to see another Brazilian arrive, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of quality Premier League players arrive, and I think it’s going to be an exciting summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s potential summer business…

If the Magpies are a Premier League club next season, it could be a summer transfer window like none ever experienced on Tyneside given the overhaul that is likely required to push the club into the top half of the table, as they still have nine players who were at the club during their last stint in the Championship, so you would imagine they will need to upgrade on those sooner or later.

With Graves hinting that a new Brazilian player could arrive this summer, that could well point towards a deal for the linked Lucas Paqueta, who has a great relationship with Bruno Guimaraes both on and off the pitch from their time together at Lyon and the midfielder has also recently taken in a Newcastle game – the one where Guimaraes scored his first and thus far, only goal for the club.
